KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS - We have heard from moms of these special kids that this protect can be a deterrent from them unbuckling their own seat belt. It is a deterrent not a lock so use until they master it. One tip is the do not let them watch you take it off each time. The unit is narrower on one side than the other providing some friction making it easy for adults to slide off but not so easy for little hands.
UNBUCKLED SEAT BELTS - The Seat Belt Release Protector is a patented, mommy invented cover for a seat belt buckle that secures an infant or toddler's car seat in place. The Seat Belt Release Protector prevents the accidental unbuckling of the vehicle's restraint system, but does not interfere with the seat belt itself.
CAUTION: This product is a deterrent only and should not take the place of driver supervision while children are in the back seat of the vehicle. This product is NOT TO BE USED WITH A LATCH SYSTEM for car seat installation. Do not tape or glue this product to the seat belt buckle under any circumstances. Important: Make sure that the top lip of the Seat Belt Release Protector covers the vehicle's seat belt release button, as shown in the picture.
EASY TO INSTALL - It is easy to install by simply sliding the open end of the Seat Belt Release Protector over the head of the seat belt after the car seat has been installed correctly. You can slide the Seat Belt Release Protector over the buckle head after the buckle has been fastened or before it has been fastened, whichever is easier in your vehicle. The Seat Belt Release Protector is very easy to remove in an emergency and is meant to act as a deterrent to accidental release of the seat belt by another rear seat passenger, or the toddlers themselves. Proper driver supervision is always required and the driver should always check to ensure that the seat belt is still properly engaged. Fits most vehicles with RED button on top.
Installation instructions:
1. After your baby's car seat has been correctly and securely installed in the vehicle, lock the seat in place with the vehicle seat belt/restraint system.
2. Slide the Seat Belt Release Protector (Open side should be facing the front of the vehicle) over the the head of the buckled car seat belt. The Closed side of the Seat Belt Release Protector should be nearest to the seat back.
3. The Seat Belt Release Protector is properly installed if it fits snugly over the head of the buckle.
FROM THE INVENTOR - The Seat Belt Release Protector was invented in 2003 when our nephew who was sitting in the backseat with our then infant daughter's car seat, mistakenly unbuckled the seatbelt that was holding her car seat in place and not his own. Because she was seated in the middle seat, his red "RELEASE" button was directly next to hers. We had no idea that she was unbuckled until about a week later when we turned a corner and her entire carseat tipped over. We needed a simple, easy to use product that was easily removed in case of an emergency and easy to put on for the average mom and dad, but we also wanted something affordable and accessible to everyone, thus the Seat Belt Release Protector was born!
